Time for a Change….discarding a now useless bit of kit!

oldaashirt_june2013

I just had to do it.  I was left with no choice, circumstances and conversations led me to the decision to cast off a piece of useless garb and replace it with something new!  An image here of my original Alternative Armies work t-shirt which has, after ten years of excellent service, given up the ghost.  No point holding on to it any more.  Stitching, holding it together and kind words would not be enough.  No point looking back, ah happy memories indeed but when its done it’s done.    Sometimes when you invest time and love into something it works out, other times it just falls apart on you with nothing but fabricky excuses.

Off to the bin now with you me laddo…

Before you ask…yes, the company has furnished me with another at no charge!  I hope it lasts just as well and as long.

  1. Gavin,
I have many shirts like this.
Some I saved just before they got to far. Those are hanging in a closet never to see the light of day.
Most of them my son can not even fit into.
Although he does have one of his own that has the holes and things from his youth which is sitting at the bottom of a drawer.
All of them are comic or tv related and can not be found again so that is why they have not seem the rubbish bin. But someday they may have to. I also have one hanging with a Lou Ferigno autograph that is not worn.
Scary that I just can’t seem to part with them.

    • Hello Bob,

Nothing to be scared of. Clothing can hold memories as Grim says. If it had been a ‘normal’ shirt then I could have stored it but its a work shirt..plus it needed rid of, it was starting to stink even when clean!

You keep your shirts my friend. 🙂

  2. I fear we men all have these beloved tees in our wardrobes, much to our partners despair! I still have my ancient Faith no more tee from 92/93, never going to wear it again, but it brings back a lot of good memories!!

    • Ah, much like my beloved 80’s Citadel ‘Dakka Dakka’ and ‘Dark Future’ shirts which are so threadbare now they would not stand a wear. My sons will get them for one glorious night out on their 18th’s before the bin beckons. Yes, I have to wear the AA one each day so it had to go.
