USE ME 15mm Fantasy sold out!

What a way to start the day!

Due to a flurry of orders during the night 15mm.co.uk has sold out the print run of UM002 USE ME 15mm Fantasy rules.  First off thanks to all those gamers who bought a copy, or in some cases half a dozen for a club or group of players, and for all the kind feedback on the rules I wrote in that title.

I am organising another print run of this title but I do not have a date as yet for when it will be back in stock.  Keep in mind there is a paid for PDF download version of UM002 which is availiable for purchase right now.

UM002 covers high fantasy in everything from small skirmishes with a dozen a side 15mm miniatures right up to nearly a thousand miniatures in a battle on the table.  The battle level of the system works on a really clever (thanks Elton!) ‘3’s’ mechanic to combine up single miniatures into formations.  Formations can be on single bases or on element bases like HOTT.

‘Terminus’ – free micro scenarios coming to Barking Irons Online

Invisible and impermeable until a civilisation reaches a point of technical advancement capable of reaching its solar system’s edge the Terminus is a lethal challenge set to all space faring species.  From an inky nothingness to an obstacle that can only be overcome by skilful use of military force Terminus is the benchmark of adulthood for every race that fancies itself a possible master of the universe.  A Terminus blocks all exits from a solar system seemingly moving almost instantly to any vector taken by star ships trying to leave the system.  Appearing as a monolithic flat piece of golden metal some thousand miles wide  Terminus destroys any vessel that tries to pass by it but allows any and all vessels to land upon it.    All species are astounded to discover that the surface of their Terminus is porous and starships simply sink into it descending into a world like cavern with a breathable atmosphere and gravity much like their home planet.  As soldiers, scientists, explorers and others take their first steps within Terminus the tests begin….

Terminus sets those who wish to leave their home solar system challenges, lethal ones, beginning small and then getting larger and larger, pushing those who enter it to their utter limits.  Projectile, directed energy, plasma and all other types of weapons must face off against the enemies that Terminus sends forth.  Savage creatures, primitive aliens, robots and faceless legions each more difficult to defeat than the last.  There is no leaving Terminus without victory though signals for help are always allowed passage so that the screams of those found wanting can be heard upon the worlds from which they came.

Those races who have beaten their Terminus challenge have earned their place on the stellar stage.  Once they do they learn of the legends told by other space faring species of their own encounter with the dreaded Terminus.

Well if that got your attention and left you wanting to know more then you will need to check out Barking Irons Online during March 2012 where the Terminus micro scenarios will be put up for free for players of UM001 USE ME 15mm Science Fiction rules.

Each of these micro scenarios will contain an introduction, scenario forces and goals, solo play guide and what you need to play.  About seven hundred words around one central aim per scenario.  All geared towards a quick game with set objectives.

HOF Fire Team will be at Salute 2012

HOF FT Cover

Back in 2010 Bob Minadeo and myself put together a playtest draft of a new 15mm scale wargame called HOF Fire Team.  This playtest draft was downloaded more than nine hundred times and more than two hundred people contributed to the testing.  A lot of these gamers did so after being informed of the rules by Dropship Horizon blog, at that time run by my good friend Mark Hannam, who was also in on the ground level with the rules.

HOF Fire Team is a little brother to Firefight 2.0 in that its mechanics are taken from that game but instead of being for 28mm its for 15mm miniatures.  The result is an intense 15mm sci-fi grid based game that can be played in quarter of an hour with about twenty four miniatures on the battle boards (20mm squared grids).  It uses ‘tech levels’ and ‘way points’ along with ‘action dice’ for a game that is very flexible and fast without being staid and predictable.

Confirmed now by 15mm.co.uk the game will be out in time for the Salute 2012 show at Excel in London’s Docklands in April of this year.  It will be an A5 format 56pp book with the cover you can see here.

More on this as it develops!

Watch out for the Eyetaran!

Watch out! …there in the undergrowth…what is it…arrgh…no, its the Eyetaran!

Soon to be added to the growing SHM 15mm Range at 15mm.co.uk is SHM23 Eyetaran.  This little fellow is a lot of fun and quite an odd ball too.

SHM23

Designed by Nick Kondratov this miniature stands about 13mm tall and has a furry body, two little feet, long neck and a single eye.  Is it dangerous…most likely…I imagine some sort of bio-beam from its eye.

The great thing about the SHM range is that it lets designers get their own ideas into mold and to market.  Otherwise miniatures like this, quirky, useful, would never exist except as one off sculpts or concepts.

I am adding a profile for the Eyetaran to USE ME Alien Safari.

Look for this miniature on 15mm.co.uk during February.

Latest Three USE ME Titles soon to be purchase Downloads

UM007 PDF page one

15mm.co.uk will soon be adding further USE ME titles to its page of purchase downloads.  These downloads are purpose designed files containing seperate colour covers, a full indexed PDF of the rules plus an ‘Ease Print’ version of the same which is optimised for print and does not contain backgrounds, images or dense colours to save on ink.  All wrapped in a zip folder for the great price of only 5.00USD through download partner Oronjo.

I have already created downloads of UM001 to UM006 and also MOTH 28mm science fiction rules too so through feedback I am pretty sure of what gamers want from their downloads and these three new ones deliver on all counts.

The print versions of UM007, UM008,UM009 are on the market and selling well and as promised in February 15mm.co.uk will release the purpose made download versions.

More on this at the right time.

Alternative Armies Xmas 2011 goodies…rare indeed!

Back across the month of December 2011 an early January 2012 Alternative Armies ran its annual festive season offer of goodies when you place an order for products.  This time it was an offer of a strickly limited run MUG or a MOUSEMAT or a 2012 CALENDAR all themed to the artwork of resident talent Mr Edward Jackson.

Above you can see pictures of these items.  All of which are now totally defunct of stock.  I have my own set, the calendar is on the wall, the mug is well used and the mousemat is deeply grooved already!

Alternative Armies sent out more than a hundred of each item and as is the norm with all goodies like this the company has had multiple emails asking if any of the items could be ordered or purchased or exchanged for other codes such as miniatures.  I am afraid to have to say the answer is no for we have had NO items traded back in from that lot of goodies!

All I can suggest is that if some surface on trading websites you have a go to try and get them…good luck.

Now to go and make a brew in me mug!

15mm Wasteland Uber Goons coming on 15mm.co.uk

Release has been confirmed on Friday 10th February of the latest HOF 15mm Science Fiction miniatures code.   This code is HOF75 Wasteland Uber Goons.

HOF75 Wasteland Uber Goons

The pack will contain ten miniatures in three poses and as with all the new codes the miniatures will be available as single figures too.  These singles will be A,B,C from the left in the image.

These miniatures are about 18mm tall (about 6.6″ in real terms) as they represent a sought after facet of the Post Apocalypse gaming setting; that of the radioactive enhanced mutant.  These fellows all wear trench coats, rubber boots, steel helmets and gas masks and are armed with slug throwers or SMG’s if you prefer.  Fielded as either scavengers, gang members, enforcers or the bully boys of a wasteland baron they are useful miniatures.  They are featured in the special types of characters in UM007 USE ME 15mm Post Apocalypse rule book.

If you are reading this after the release date then go along to 15mm.co.uk and type ‘HOF75’ into the search box to find this code.

At the end of Troll Month on Alternative Armies

January 2012 was Troll Month over on Alternative Armies.  Its intent was to introduce the brand new race of Trolkin to the World of Valon, setting of Flintloque.  It went rather swimmingly truth be told.

The release of Trolkin Line (Lergo Line) in six poses along with a great limited edition pack LE045 Bange & Oafson set the ‘little trolls’ off to a flying start.  A Trolkin is the little cousin of the massive Trolka, biggest soldier in the Mordredian Wars, but each miniature still stands 30mm tall making them bigger then High Elves.  Above you can see the Trolkin, they are all on their own page at Trolkin.

A big part of Troll Month was the release of the free PDF download booklet that provides a whole background, formations, characters, profiles, scenario for the Trolls.  This free booklet was downloaded over four hundred times in two weeks and by the feedback I have read made a lot of players rather happy.  You can get your hands on the booklet by clicking on the image above or going to this page on the Alternative Armies website.

Lastly the sculptor who took the Trolkin into white metal life, Rob Alderman, has posted a couple of videos in which he explains his own way of painting up Trolkin.  This is a really nice video and well worth a watch.

Enjoy!
